Wind-Up Monkey at Organ Grinder Pizza

I went to the Organ Grinder probably 1977, when I lived in Kennewick. The organist had this little wind-up cymbal banging monkey. He wound the thing up and set it on top of the organ. This would set the rhythm and he played the organ to the rhythm of this cymbal-playing monkey.

The monkey quit working at a certain point, which would interrupt the tune on the organ. So the organist stopped, banged the monkey on the head which would get it going again and the organ would resume the tune he was playing right where he left off. It was hilarious!

About The Organ Grinder Pizza Monkey

Actually, the organist was playing and he would stop the monkey. The monkey would still be banging on his cymbals, "jamming" away, so the organist would bop the monkey on the head to make him stop!

My neighbor got one of the souvenir ones for his birthday and we played with that thing for hours. Man, simpler times back when you were a kid, I tell you!
