Portland Oregon Band - Insanitizers

by Conrad Swartz
(Vancouver, Washington)

Our origins were in 2000, when I began writing modernized instrumental surf-rock music. With the help of drummer Mike I gradually developed a repertoire of original songs, and we released a CD in 2007 entitled "Dark Surf Collection." This CD garnered a top rating from prominent reviewer D.J. Phil Dirt (see ReverbCentral.com).

In 2008 I began recruiting the rest of the band to perform live. Ralf adds jolly lighthearted enthusiasm and a twangy bass, drummer Don is a fireball who loves pounding the surf beat, and guitarist Michael plays change-of-pace rock leads, duets with me, and steady support of our frenetic rhythms. In June 2010 our new 17-song CD "Whimsical Surf" appeared and received enthusiastic reviews from Music World 3000, D.J. Phil Dirt, and others. It is available at “Everybody’s Music” on Main Street in Vancouver, WA.

Surf guitar music is just for fun, and this is what we are about. Our arrangements are original and so are most of our songs. If you like the music of The Ventures or rock-n-roll versions of classical music you will enjoy our performances and recordings.

We enjoy varying our tones and approaches. As a change of pace we play acoustic versions of our repertoire as “The Surfarian String Quartet.” Regardless, it’s all energizing, fun, and jolly. We perform at festivals, taverns, parties, and ceremonies.

I also love playing guitars with dramatic looks, although I often have to modify them to sound and play right. Check the 1965 red Goya “mixmaster” in the photo.

We maintain a variety of web presences. Some include free MP3 downloads.
