The Portland Oregon Airport, better known as PDX or Portland International, is a hub of hustle and bustle for travelers around the world and is only a 20 minute trip from downtown Portland, whether you choose to get here by car or our light rail, MAX.
In 2006, 2007 and 2008, 2009, and 2010, PDX was rated the top airport in the nation for and by business travelers by Condé Nast Traveler magazine. All airports in the running were ranked in categories such as ease of connections, customs/baggage, food/shops/amenities, comfort/design and perceived safety/security.
In 2010, a Zagat survey of 30 U.S. airports, given to over 8,000 frequent flyers, ranked PDX the #1 airport in the country. That says a lot about the Portland International Airport, wouldn't you say? 17 passenger airlines serve there, including Air Canada, Hawaiian Airlines, Lufthansa, Delta Airlines and others, traveling non-stop to over 100 countries.
Getting into the airport is a breeze (as airports go!) and the Portland Airport parking is more than ample, with long-term, economy lots, and garages.
You can also take advantage of valet parking, if you're feeling especially yuppy. ;)
Once you're inside, you'll be awed by just how large and striking the architecture is. Both beautiful and modern, there is no mistaking that this airport belongs to Portland!
70 percent of the terminal level provides free wifi for anyone with a laptop, cell phone, tablet, or other device. You can bring up the PDX web site and get up-to-the-minute arrival and departure information. Also, you'll find out more about all the great restaurants and shops that are housed in the Portland Oregon airport. They're all open 365 days a year, for your convenience.
With all that plus a conference center, cargo and mailing facilities and more, there are times that I jump in my car and go to the airport for nothing more than to walk around, watch all the people, and enjoy the planes as they take off and land. It's really a lot fun and makes for a inexpensive day out.
For your trip out, you can catch reserved towncars, limos, hotel shuttles, taxis, rental cars and even the MAX red line.
If you are picking up someone from the Portland Oregon Airport, you can park for free in the cell phone waiting area. This lot, with a capacity for 30 vehicles, allows you to park free for 30 minutes and wait for your party to call. Then it's off to the Arrival area to pick them up. You'll spot multiple signs directing you there as you head toward the airport terminal. All nice and convenient. ;)
If you're looking to fly in for a vacation, you're going to really enjoy your time at the Portland Oregon Airport.
