To be honest, when I heard about the LumberJax, I snickered. I don't know about you, but before I was educated on the subject, when I thought Lacrosse, I pictured a bunch of high school nerds running around the school yard, attempting to measure up to the big boys that played football. Boy, was I wrong and I stand corrected.
Portland Lacrosse is as exciting and popular around here as soccer or hockey (in-game fighting included!). The fans are as rabid, the action as intense and the fun as contagious. Once you hit up a Portland LumberJax game at the Rose Garden, you'll more than likely be hooked for life.
To attempt to convey the skill involved in this game, think about a golfer having the experience to put their ball in the cup. Now, picture that same golfer running full-speed around an arena, flinging that same ball to their teammates and into a goal while the other team tries to stop them. Holy cow! The hand-eye coordination alone is enough to boggle the mind.
I'd be hard-pressed to think of a professional sports event that I had more fun at. The drama had me on the proverbial edge of my seat! ;)
Presently, the professional Portland team holds a solid lead in the West Division of the NLL (National Lacrosse League) with no sign of slowing up. This Portland team is a force to be reckoned with.
If you don't know, men's Lacrosse is played with a hard, rubber ball that is passed around via a long stick with netting on the end called a Crosse. The whole goal is to make the goal and keep your opposition from doing the same. Not too complicated, huh? One of the many reasons why it's so perfect for the entire family. Even the little ones can grasp the concept.
The LumberJax put on a great show for the fans, game after game. If you're looking for something that will get your adrenaline flowing, don't miss the opportunity to catch the LumberJax in action.
