Oregon Zoo Theme Song

by Toni Remmers
(Ridgefield, WA)

I remember what the theme song was for the Oregon Zoo around the time that Packy the elephant was born. I can sing it to this day!

All the animals in the zoo are jumping up and down for you.

Asking you to be sure to plan to visit the zoo as soon as you can.

Story books that really talk, you turn on with a key, tell fascinating things about the animals you see.

Story books and zoo keys together guide you through.

A world of new excitement awaits you at the zoo!

I was around 5 when Packy was born.

Portland Zoo Song

This song has been going through my head for about a year, for some reason. I even taught it to my granddaughter, who loves it. Glad to know I'm not the only one who remembers the lyrics word for word.

Zoo Theme Song also used in San Francisco
by: Randy

This song and ad wasn't unique to Portland. The San Francisco Zoo ran a similar ad during the early 60s touting its Elephant Keys and story boxes.

Me Too
by: Dan

I also remember "All the Animals in the Zoo …", which was used in the late 1950s and maybe early 1960s.

I also remember Packy being born in 1962, and not too long after that, a little sister named Me Too. And, if I'm not mistaken, this was around the time the Zoo became noted for its penguins and for the "Zooliner", a futuristic looking excursion train.

Look at the cute little Packy elephant. Oregon Zoo was one of the finest zoo in the country and I feel so proud that they have all done a great job to make this zoo a successful one. When this packy was born I was 7 years old.

Being raised without TV, I didnt watch much of it.

But when visiting friends that had TV, I remember this being aired. I have never forgotten it, and know it 55 years later, word for word.

I have sang it for a few people, who are always surprised and delighted.

A very fond memory, indeed.
