Lucky House has fast become a favorite of mine since arriving in Vancouver, WA a few years ago.
The problem is that this Chinese food restaurant located in Orchards sits off behind KFC in an equally small strip mall, out of site and not as prominent as the delicious food served there. Being hidden away is a shame; like a light under a bucket.
Other than an unfortunate location, everything else about Lucky House in Vancouver, WA is absolutely golden!
Asian-family owned and run, the father cooks, the mother is the backup and also runs the counter and serves, but, the biggest asset is Sam.
Sam is the son and a soon-to-be author. He is the face of the establishment as far as I’m concerned.
Always pleasant and customer-oriented, Sam remembers our favorite dishes and we’ve always felt very welcomed there.
They have a nice selection of very tasty dishes with good dinner and lunch combinations on the menu. There is a white board as you enter with their daily specials jotted there.
Each time I go, I try something different. A good old standard for me is the Mar Far Chicken, Pork Fried Rice, and Egg Roll. I must have my Chinese Hot Mustard! ;)
The prices are really good and my wife and I always end up taking our leftovers home. The portions are large. I have noticed that the times I've gotten food to go, the main entree portions seem to be smaller. I'm not sure why. I would recommend eating there if you can.
I am a huge fan of Chinese food, so I’m always on the lookout for new places to try when I’m in a new part of the city or state. I can honestly say that I’ve grown to use this particular restaurant as my litmus test for all other Asian food restaurants. Nothing has measured up so far. And no, I am not being paid to say this! I simply love to see good businesses grow. They deserve it.
If you love Chinese food, I highly recommend Lucky House in Vancouver.
They are located at 5501 NE 109th Ct # P, Vancouver, WA. They also deliver and you can call your order in at (360) 892-2977.
I will ask a favor, though. When you visit, tell them you read about them right here at Uniquely Portland Oregon.com and let other readers know what you think about them in the comments section below. I’d love to know if you found your own Nirvana of Chinese cuisine there.
And, don’t forget to grab a candy from the bowl on the counter when you leave. ;)
