Hi! My name is Tony Thomas and I wanted to take a minute to tell you about me and why I love Portland Oregon. Presently, I live in Vancouver, WA, just over the bridge about 7 miles away from my favorite city. I'm married and have a grown son, Isaac. I was raised in Milwaukie, Oregon and lived there until my parent's divorce when I was 15 yrs old. I'm not exactly sure when I fell in love with Portland, but I did at a fairly young age. It's a city that just gives me warm fuzzies inside. I feel totally at ease no matter what area I'm in. The people are great, the streets are clean and the city of Portland Oregon is always getting bigger and better. There is so much happening in the city of Portland EVERY SINGLE DAY, it's difficult to keep up and do it all.....but, it sure is fun trying! haha. My wife and son are starting to really understand why I think Portland is so fantastic...the more they discover, the more they like it. I think that one reason I really enjoy Portland is that there is a lot to do and always something going on. I'm someone who thrives on variety, so the city seems to mesh well with my personality. I built this web site because I wanted to share Portland with other people. I wanted to be able to say to the world, "Hey! Check out how cool my city is! It has so much to offer!" I knew that the Internet was a great way to get my message out. How did I build this web site? I built the site with a service called Site Build It, which enabled me to take my love for Portland and turn it into my own small business. I am having a ton of fun writing content for it and watching the traffic grow as people visit and catch my Portland fever. ;) This is actually my 2nd site. My first was all about the romantic side of the Oregon coast. I built that in 2006 and watched it grow into a very popular web site that hundreds of people come to every day. I'm also making some good money from it. So, I figured it was time to start writing about my other passion: Portland Oregon. I write for The Portlander.com, my main focus being the Extreme Sports of Portland which include the Rose City Rollers and DOA Pro Wrestling. I also freelance as a Social Media Marketing Specialist and Virtual Assistant, helping clients market themselves online, using Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, MySpace, YouTube videos, blogging and other social media goodies. It's all great fun! If you'd like to learn more about Site Build It, head over to my learn about Site Build It page. Here's the way I fund my site and make my money. In a nutshell, through affiliate relationships with individuals and other businesses. You may see links that direct you to another web site or service or product that I think may benefit you, my guest. For example, on my Portland Travel Guide page, I may recommend a local car rental service. Often times, I am an affiliate of theirs, meaning that, by going through that link and renting your car from them, I get a commission from it. The same goes for renting a hotel room, buying a book, etc. Please know that any compensation does not influence the information I provide you here. I'm as honest as the day is long...it's just the way I roll. ;) I always give my truthful opinions, findings, beliefs, or experiences, which is what keeps Uniquely Portland Oregon.com so much fun for me. It's just icing on the cake when that information provides me some income along with giving you what you want or need. That chunk of change is simply what keeps the site up and the lights on where I live (my wife really likes when the rent is paid! hehe.) On the other hand, any "Ads by Google" are not selected by me, so if you see a Google ad and a web page about the same product or service, it is a coincidence. Just FYI. Please do support my sponsors and recommendations. This site takes time and effort to deliver original content, free, to you. Supporting my sponsors is a WIN-WIN-WIN for you, me, and them. Thank you very much. Anyway, that's my story and now you understand a little more about why I love Portland Oregon and how this whole web site thing works for me. Thanks for coming and I hope you enjoy your stay. Feel free to drop me a line if you'd like on my Contact Me page. Regards, P.S. - I also have a YouTube channel at http://www.youtube.com/Chawman, if you're interested in seeing what my life is like now that I work from home, creating and managing my web sites...it's great fun! ;) << From I Love Portland Oregon back home to Uniquely Portland Oregon |
