Flicks on the Bricks in Portland is an annual summer event here. From July through August, you can camp out in your low-back chairs or whatever in Pioneer Courthouse Square and watch a great movie. The warm breeze and the uniqueness of an outdoor movie is very cool.
Summers are really nice here and we take advantage of that by offering locals and visitors alike the chance to see an enjoyable movie right outside, in the center of the city.
No B-rated stuff here. In the past seasons, the event has brought Anchorman, Top Gun, Ghostbusters, Raiders of the Lost Ark, National Lampoon's Vacation and many others to the big screen in downtown Portland.
Four to Five movies run during July through August on the warm Friday evenings around here. It's really a lot of fun heading into the city and sitting around to enjoy a good movie with your Portland family in such a large living room as Pioneer Courthouse Square (Pioneer Courthouse Square is, in fact, called Portland's "Living Room").
There's always a good number of companies, both local and national, who sponsor this event...businesses such as Cricket Wireless, KINK-FM, the Portland Tribune and others. Everyone wants to get involved....it's just the nature of Portland, Oregon. We never do things half-hearted here....everything is a special event.
Vendors are available at the movie for you to grab popcorn, soft drinks and other goodies. And there's always Starbucks plopped right there in the middle of the action. This can be a really fantastic Portland event for making memories! ;)
Here was the Flicks on the Bricks 2012 schedule:
