A Tale Of Two Organ Grinders

My name is Ed and I live in the Denver,CO area.

Denver had an Organ Grinder Pizza in the early 1970's. It was on West Alameda Ave. in Denver.

The building was the same design as the one in Portland. It was a fun place and I remember the huge organ and all of the gadgets assigned to it.

It closed, I believe, in the early 80's. I believe it was the lousy location it was in. A guy named Noah was the organist. He was a young man in his 20's, I think.

In the early 90's, I visited the Organ Grinder Pizza in Portland while on assignment with AT&T. I talked to the manager that day and we had a nice chat about the 2 locations. He told me Noah was no longer with the company.

I am very sorry to see this location close too. They definitely were not your basic pizza place. It was more like going to an indoor amusement park that served pizza.

I remember going to the Organ Grinder as a child in the late seventies or early eighties. Did bubbles come out of the ceiling or do my sister and I have some crazy memories?

The Denver Organ Grinder was an amazing place. Unique, and with great great pizza! The ambiance and the decor were ultimately fantastic
The organ pipes sounds were out of this world.
We sure miss it.

I agree, it definitely was a lousy location for its future success.
